Having been present at Manchester United in 2005 when his father passed away due to liver failure, Ronaldo holds particular sadness that his father was never able to see his achievements in the subsequent years.
"I never saw that video, I never saw it, unbelievable, I need to show these images to my family," Ronaldo explained in an interview with Piers Morgan.
"My father was an alcoholic, he wasn't the father I dreamed of having.
"I wanted him, of course, but we never had a good conversation. He never saw what I have become, he hasn't seen me receive my awards."
