The Santiago Bernabéu is all set to play host to its first game of the 2019/20 Champions League campaign. The anthem of the continent's elite club competition will this evening ring out around a stadium that always enjoys European nights with extra special excitement. The opposition for this Matchday 2 group-stage encounter are a Brugge side that top the Belgian league, with Real Madrid looking to record a vital three points on home soil.

Table toppers and boasting an unbeaten record in LaLiga, the Whites will be aiming to carry the good form from their most recent domestic outings into the Champions League. Indeed, in their meetings against Sevilla, Osasuna and Atlético, the madridistas recorded clean sheets and afforded the opposition just one shot on target across the three games. "We're pleased with how we're performing and we now need to give our all against Brugge because this is an opportunity for us to put points on the board", explained Zinedine Zidane.

REAL MADRID HAVE NEVER TASTED DEFEATED IN THEIR OPENING EUROPEAN CUP GAMES AT THE BERNABÉU.

The Whites' boss, who had all of his players, barring Ferland Mendy and Marco Asensio, available for the team's final training session, has named 19 players in his squad for the meeting with Brugge.

One man who features in the squad list is Eden Hazard, who is set to make his European debut at the
Bernabéu. "I picture my debut featuring a lot of goals and a big win", commented the Belgian attacker in the build-up.

Brugge
The Whites' opponents travel to Madrid boasting an unbeaten record so far this term. Philippe Clement's troops successfully negotiated the Champions League qualifying rounds after seeing off Dynamo Kiev and LASK, before opening the group stage with a draw at home to Galatasaray. We have to go back to the 1976/77 season for the only ever previous European Cup encounter between Real Madrid and Brugge. Tonight sees the two clubs renew acquitances with three key points at stake.
